Apparently there's something in the Labour manifesto about being able to ask for an ASBO for your neighbour - so you need to both vote Labour and then race each other to slap an ASBO on the other one.

A few minutes later she gets out a huge 1980’s style ghetto blaster and whacks on Rock FM at full volumem before going inside, and shutting the door and windows!
But enough silliness, you need practical solutions...

You could always have tried to smooth the waters by saying something like "Hey? What are you doing out of the kitchen?"

The police in this situation will be a total waste of time.
Long story short I've had hassle from neighbours who don't work, total scum of Earth and tried to bully me and the wife over a period of 18 months, we put up a fence as he would park his car over my land/driveway! - got to the stage where he came at me with an axe in his hand!
In criminal law the police will basically give out out a harrassment warning on both parties then you can both be arrested for Harrassment!
The best way is to gain as much eveidence as possible and go down the civil route - it will cost more initially (eg solicitors letter) but if you win a civil case you can charge damages and send the bailiffs around. Have had no trouble with the loons in three years since I got the poilice to tell them I (or the bailiffs) will take their car off them.
have you been on neighbours from hell website? - very valuable for info, laws etc. http://www.nfh.org.uk/

Did she have her washing out before you lit your fire?
If she did I wouldn't have much sympathy for you...
