You're the one wanted to pick a fight after I pointed out you had posted sweeping generalisations without citation. Calling me stupid for not knowing "it's obvious" didn't quite leave me reeling from a fact barrage. Maybe it works face-to-face when you can intimidate the fool who doubts your mighty knowledge, but here on the web you might have to provide some actual facts.

Maybe leave it to NickFitz in future, he seems able to bitch intelligently. I don't always agree with him but I respect his arguments. Nobody care's about your personal browser choice any more than they do your favourite colour.

Yeah my earlier comment was in the misunderstanding that MS were also phasing out support (turns out I didn't read the bit about it being in 2014!), not just Google.

What do Google currently do to specifically support IE6 anyway? Maybe in their apps and whatnot, but surely their search results aren't going to be affected, they're only basic text anyway so should work in IE6 regardless.

Previous clientco co said that they still needed IE6 for SAP (no, it didn't make sense to me either.. ). But on the plus side they released FireFox for internet use.

Governments will start censoring it more and more (as Australia has started) and using it for identifying "undesirables" (like people who say they feel like blowing up an airport on Twitter), until the average person stops using it for writing on, and just uses it for reading news or looking at porn. Then the only people putting up content will be the advertisers, then it will die.

It will remain as a husk; a medium for transporting emails between corporates.

Is it Chrome that has that fancy javascript engine so javascript is pre-compiled instead of continuously being interpreted, resulting in much faster processing, or did I just dream that?

The problem with a lot of Firefox users is that they have a tendency to install and then spend an hour or two putting in addons. I get sick and tired of removing the damned things because they then complain that it's slow.
Firefox is extremely fast, but slows down tremendously when they start chucking the Google addons etc into the pot.

On the subject, I don't agree. I have IE7 and FF3, neither has much changed out of the box and both take equivalent time to start up. Both are WAY slower than Chrome to load.
