Remarkable... City Link shipped it down to their depot in Kent & then decided to ship it all the way back to the suppliers in Birmingham without even attempting to deliver it

Just had a very apologetic suppliers customer services on the line - I suggested they consider using another carrier

I've given up on delivery companies finding my place or delivering on time so everything goes to the village store cos that's where they often end up asking directions anyway, never fails.

In a spirit of scientific discovery, I decided to check on this: I fired up a virtual Windows 7 machine on which I'd never visited CUK, or anywhere else come to that; it was just a spare one for testing stuff on, but I don't seem to have used it. I checked IE's browser history and it was empty.

And lo! this thread was indeed the third result:

City Link are fine here, as are DPD/Interlink, Parcelforce, Home Delivery Network and even Yodel. (The latter two were rubbish at my previous place).
I'm particularly fond of my local Hermes guy - he figured out how to hide parcels in my meter cupboard.

Now UKMail ('Syncreon')....don't get me started. Seriously. Glad I don't order from Apple with any regularity. UKMail specialise in claiming they've attempted delivery, when they haven't even been in the area (and thus haven't left a card, meaning you can't go pick up your stuff at the depot either).

Bloody annoying staying in all day for nothing.

Normally they're not too bad but have had a few nightmares with them.

Normally it's when the regular driver is unavailable and they employ self-employed cover drivers who don't know the area and have very little comittment.

The favourite trick is to say "delivery was attempted but nobody was in and a card was left".

Of course, you know this to be a lie because you waited in all day for your "GUARANTEED NEXT DAY DELIVERY" and there is no card dropped.

Last time this happend, rang their customer service line and was told that the driver should have taken a photo of the premesis (!) to prove they had got the right address. They should have this on file on their system, but of course it wasn't there because the lying scrote of a driver hadn't been anywhere near.

They can sometimes play this game for days on end before the package is finally returned to sender.

Had that happen to us with tulipty link.
When I phoned up to find out what was going on, they said a card had been popped through, when I refuted this they came out with the 'we have a photo clearly showing your white PVCu front door'. 'That's interesting' I said, 'my front door is brown'....

Home delivery network are the very worst in our experience around here. UPS, TNT, Citylink, DHL, even Parcel farce etc... not too bad to be honest. We avoid vendors who use Home delivery network.

Found UPS worse. Twice they have tried to deliver to the WRONG address when I`ve stayed in all day. My address on the invoice sent from the Company I ordered from was correct, the actual shipping address put on the package by the Company was correct but for some reason UPS feel the need to stick their own label on packages and you can guess it, with the wrong address. My address is close to another if one word is left out and UPS leave that word out.

Usually, in my experience.
Their favourite trick is to leave the parcel with a nearish neighbour and not tell you, so I have to go round the flats like Columbo hunting it down.

My theory is they deliberately wait around the corner for hours and hours until you finally give up and go out. Then they pop a card through the letterbox with a phone number that rings off the hook.
