Doesn't everyone know an ssh server running on port 443 and tunneling to a http proxy using putty is the best way to go?

(And make sure you route your dns requests through the tunnel too..)

WHS - or just use SOCKS - bind a port on the localhost over an ssh tunnel to your home machine

If your IT has these proxies blocked, detecting you trying to access the should really result in some action, since it 99% certain means someone is deliberately trying to evade the restrictions they are aware of. If I were a web-admin I would send a quick "Hi, I noticed you trying to use XXX this morning. Can you explain why?" Most people would then be too scared to try and find a non-blocked proxy.
