    More likely their outsourced partners clicking "next next next" on the set up wizards and the default region is US-EAST

    It's always us-east-1 (North Virginia). I don't understand quite why UK banks are relying on us-east-1 rather than using eu-west-2 (London). I believe various operations are a few hundredths of a cent cheaper over there, and I suppose that mounts up
