Must admit I don't understand why they would use military planes in the first place.
Odd the Columbians talking about human rights it must be new territory for them.

    https://www.hrw.org/world-report/202...pters/colombia

They just thought they could get one over on Trump.

I personally would have ICE planes with suitable restraints e.g. Con Air style. If need be escorted by US war planes from military base to military base / private Airport.

If they are Columbian nationals convicted of significant crimes I don't think they can legally refuse them hence Trump's remedy and the Cartel's mate's accusations knowing he had lost. I suspect they had a game plan for this in advance.

Earlier on Sunday, Petro said he rejected the deportation flights because the deportees were being transported in military aircraft, arguing such a move treated migrants as criminals.

"The United States must establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them," Petro wrote on social media. He added that he would accept deportation flights, as long as they were conducted on civilian planes.

He has upset the Columbians now. Do you think it would work with the French?

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-migrants.html

Colombian President Gustavo Petro has accused Donald Trump of being a 'white slaveholder' who is on track to 'wipe out the human species' after being humiliated by the US president in a dsipute over migrants.

It is the latest salvo in a bitter dispute that began when Petro blocked two US migrant deportation flights entering his country. But within hours, Trump threatened to hit Colombia with huge import traiffs and stop visa processing.

    ....

After the climbdown, Petro said: 'You don't like our freedom, okay. I don't shake hands with white slavers.'

'Overthrow me, President, and the Americas and humanity will respond... You can try to carry out a coup with your economic strength and your arrogance.'

President Trump had earlier imposed tariffs of 25 per cent on Colombian imports and an immediate visa revocation for government officials after the nation refused two planeloads of citizens who had been deported from the United States.
