This is the problem: products used to be made to last and then the filthy capitalists all conspired to build in planned failure / obsolescence and get more profits.

The Lidl(tm) ones are brilliant. So brilliant in fact that it's a struggle to get the lids off. .

Oh I have a variety of storage containers, most saved from takeaways as noted above. I just do not own anything Tupperware branded.

The last time I bought a set of plastic tubs, they came from John Lewis and are rubbish because the lids don't fit properly. Maybe I should have bought Tupperware.

LM and I are too young to have gone to Tupperware parties.

I remember being little probably 3??? and being told my mum and some friends were going to a Tupperware party.

Mmm...Just did a Google and there is a Facebook group called "Tupperware Facebook Party UK" so they were still doing them.

Natural immunity. Boxes from takeaways, on the other hand, seem to breed and I don't often get a takeaway

Tupperware files for bankruptcy in US and hunts for new owners

Food container firm affected by ‘challenging macroeconomic environment’Kalyeena MakortoffWed 18 Sep 2024 09.53 BST

Tupperware, the lossmaking 78-year-old American plastic food container brand, has filed for bankruptcy and is on the hunt for new owners as it attempts to lure younger customers.

The company, which was founded by the chemist Earl Tupper in 1946 and became known for its patented “burping” seal, has started US chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings as bosses said that its finances had been “severely impacted” by the economic environment.

Tupperware became famous in the 1950s and 1960s when sales representatives, mostly women, held Tupperware parties to sell its range of plastic containers. For many, it was an opportunity to earn extra money for their households on a flexible schedule that did not require a full-time job outside the home.
I think we have one Tupperware pot which was about a tenner and is thicker plastic than most, plenty of cheap imitations.

Working...
