It depends. Usually the ordering comes from which was the male genetic donor and which was the female
So male dog, female fox could be a dox whereas male fox, female dog could be a fog. This is how it's done for the liger (male lion, female tiger) and tigon (male tiger, female lion).
Or you go by the ratio of the genomes in its DNA from each species.

The obvious name is "Dogfox", but since it's female perhaps it should be "Bitchvixen"...?

The world’s first confirmed dog-fox hybrid was found in the Brazilian wilderness.
In 2021, the animal, a female, was hit by a car and taken to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
The staff at the hospital were unable to determine whether the animal was a dog or a fox, as it had physical characteristics of both species.
Genetic testing revealed that the animal had 76 chromosomes, a combination of the 74 chromosomes of a fox and the 78 chromosomes of a dog. This confirmed that the animal was a hybrid.
A recently published study revealed the animal’s mother was a pampas fox and her father a domestic dog of an unknown breed. Experts believe it’s the first recorded instance of an offspring from a fox and dog breeding.
The animal looked like a medium-sized dog with large, pointy ears, a long snout and a jet-black nose. It also had brown eyes and a black-brown coat with specks of white and grey.
