Comparing small purchase convenience retail to recruitment is probably not the best example especially the independent sector. All that would happen certainly in this country that Tesco Express/ Sainsburys local would gobble the outstanding market that those independents had - maybe a percentage point or 2 each.
Trust me there are too many recruitment agencies worldwide and not enough business to really go around. If a big agency like Hays or the s3 group or even both went bust today it would not matter one jot to the end clients. Yes lots of workers would be in the tulip but apart form a few extra phone calls the people who pay the bills - the clients - would not be affected. If 30% of all recruitment agencies went bust today the effect would be just the same on those who pay the bills. The business model is badly damaged. The big question is what can replace it?
The model has already changed for many big companies, they hire embedded individual agents mostly on FTC.
If you follow that logic most corner shops / bazaar shops are over supply.

If the mail starts with - we are really impressed with your skillset then I find replying with - well that pays for 2 days a week does the trick! I call it the Evangelista Gambit!
They do poor searches and funnel those into a mail shot. It has no cost to them. Annoy them on the way back.

but its not professional for them not to acknowledge your email or reply to a chaser email I sent

Applied for 2 positions with these guys back end of July
both Applications show as pending
Some clients will keep a requisition open for a fixed amount of time before evaluating all the CVs received during that period. This is especially true during the staffing-up phase of a new project, when the time is available to select the most qualified resources.
Also, if it makes you feel any better, I applied for a position sometime in 2011, and have yet to hear back. I suspect they may have gone with another candidate though.
I believe so but they've upped their game. They've left the world of bottom feeding agents and are only looking for the best quality hires. All the dross just stay as pending or something.
