I stayed in the Aviator hotel when I went to the BDO World Darts when it was still a thing.

It is in the shape of a propeller. That will keep you amused for at least 30 minutes.

You can watch planes land at the airport if your room is that side.

    Endless fun.

Oh god I remember that from 2000-2001 at IBM across the road. Yes different, luckily I was on unlimited overtime and got fed a free takeaway at work if there after 7pm. I see the Alexandra is still there, that was my lunchtime paper and a pint(s) retreat. I had a room in Church Crookham. No fancy hotels then.

I lived there for a year (my first job after uni, late 80s)

It was OK back then, lots of lovely countryside around. And if you thought Farnborough was bad, you only needed to drive 10 mins up the road to Aldershot to see how lucky you were to be in Farnborough.

Quite a few posh towns nearby though so some nice pubs etc.

Of course this was nearly 35 years ago so it's probably all changed - I never felt the urge to return and check

Got a bit of a suntan stuck in a traffic jam on the Brussels ring road and then got rained on in Kent, is that a metaphor for something? Well my hotel isn't too bad at all, reasonably posh in fact: Luxury Hotel, Restaurant, Bar, Wedding & Event Venue | Aviator (aviatorhampshire.com)

The other, which was also recommended was booked out but is not quite as classy albeit nearer to where I'm plying my trade: Village Hotel Farnborough | Hotel In Hampshire With A Pool (village-hotels.co.uk)

Now to find a curry house....

It does indeed have an airport, but you do have to provide your own plane. Not sure if that helps.

Its a bit of a tuliphole!
Lots of the defence industry moved out about 15 years ago but remnants and the odd squaddie remain. Depends what you want? Holiday Inn Express with a side order of the Golden Arches for dinner looking out over the car park at a teenage pregnancy problem? Yep Farnborough good for that! The Ritz with a side order of Michelin star looking out over pastoral and idyllic rivers, fields and meadows? Commute from somewhere else!
