Indeed. Read the early pages of "This is going to hurt" describing the ideal medical student (so far as universities are concerned). Who turned out to be Harold Shipman...

Exactly. I have a repeat prescription for gin and valium, if the doc has to sign off my gas bill as well, there's a terrible danger he might forget one of the really important ones...Originally posted by ladymuck View PostIt's hard enough to get a GP to do their actual job, let alone giving them more to do.

Like many other proposals it's a ploy to avoid pay-outs. The Tories make it very complicated to pay benefits but very easy to award multi-million pounds contract to their chums.

This is also known as part of the 'Norman Tebbit' policy:
https://www.theguardian.com/society/...-burden-on-nhsGPs around England are to prescribe patients activities such as walking or cycling in a bid to ease the burden on the NHS by improving mental and physical health.

The latest trial will focus specifically on boosting active travel and will take place in 11 local authority areas in England, including Cornwall, Bradford, and Leeds, with free bike loans, all-ability cycling taster days, and walking and cycling mental health groups among the pilot projects to be supported by the funding.

There's one Tory policy which works, not sure why they don't use it more often, it's called "just don't be poor". Works for everyone in the government (and for their friends).
I love when politicians say "we are looking for solutions across the board" which roughly translates to "no idea what we are doing".
