The Batgirl movie has been cancelled after $70 million in Batmobiles were destroyed backing out of the Batcave.

There was waffle about "our values" so maybe there's a problem that all the characters are straight or somethingOriginally posted by NigelJK View PostApparently there's another film from the same stable that sets the scene for Batgirl which is also under threat. There's some politics involved as Warner and another studio just merged and the new head honcho is wielding the ban hammer like a CUK mod.

They're not even bothering to finish post-production. That's not uncommon for some indie projects (which often simply run out of money) but it's rare for a high profile studio movie to be canned so late in the day. That gives you some idea of how utterly terrible it must have been.Originally posted by SueEllen View Post
Is it that bad it won't even go straight to the modern equivalent of DVD - put on Channel 5(or similar) around Christmas?

I wondered that but it seems the film isn't completely finished - they haven't done all the post-production FX and final CGI which must be a lot of cash. Apparently the pre-screenings include all the placeholder CGI which you sometimes see in deleted/additional scenes.Originally posted by SueEllen View Post

Or you character being cut from an incredibly successful franchise.Originally posted by d000hg View PostImagine being the lead - or getting your first big acting gig - in a film which is never released!
I suppose some of us have spent months or years of our working lives creating projects which are scrapped or shelved before they ever go live, certainly many of us spend our lives creating things hardly anyone will ever see
For example Biggs in Star Wars, Elevens sister in Stranger Things...

Imagine being the lead - or getting your first big acting gig - in a film which is never released! The new Batgirl movie has been scrapped by Warner Bros Discovery months before its planned release.
Reportedly budgeted at more than $70m (£58m), it was due to be shown in cinemas and on the streaming service HBO Max later this year.
