Google has revealed the root cause of the outage that disrupted services at its europe-west2-a zone, based in London, during a recent heatwave.
"One of the datacenters that hosts zone europe-west2-a could not maintain a safe operating temperature due to a simultaneous failure of multiple, redundant cooling systems combined with the extraordinarily high outside temperatures," states Google's incident report.

What I posted isn't new they have know for decades there is an issue with water and the other infrastructural things you've mentioned that will limit the amount of housing they can build in the South of England. Hence these weak initiatives to have things like the Northern Power House.
A competent resettling might work now, the North might even become posh!

I read in the Torygraph yesterday that some housing developments in West London can't go ahead for another decade because the national grid can't support the extra energy demand. Turns out a load of data centers being built along the M4 corridor has snaffled capacity, with one DC taking as much as 10k homes.
I think it's easy to forget that that building housing isn't just about the land, bricks and mortar. There's a whole heap of infrastructure challenges that seem to not be being more widely aired and discussed.

This gaming actually reduces the rent for Businesses everywhere as they covert anyone to lease it from them (there is a market you know) including the high street, which hopefully makes the high street viable again and reduces the chances of ghost town communities.
Therefore to house the homeless and keep out small businesses alive, you know a community, councils must be able too...- Be allowed to access emergency sink funds that are usually reserved for when Putin nukes us and its way too late anyway.
- Be allowed to purchase under-used private Business land/offices that is used less than 50% without some nimby losing their mind over it.
- Have this independently checked by approved regulators as either side could abuse it. Tough one this, but gotta start the movement somehow.
- Be allowed to build on it depending upon if they sell the RTB in a 1 for 2 ratio.
- Rinse and repeat.
Thanks for the comments. But trusting the councils is ambitious almost none of them could arrange a p1ss up in a brewery hence section 106. Sluff managed to go bankrupt with the legal right to jail its debtors, sadly its not unusual.
The big issue is that we have insufficient dwellings for our population, we need about 2-3 million more. This makes the cost of a property too expensive. Yes we have too few social dwellings but if the cost of rent was half the current cost most people on low pay wouldn't need social housing. As you say we need to bust the land bankers and understand office buildings are toast due to WFH.
So the government need to step up. Build houses like after the war and reduce population growth.
I would stop RTB discounts but offer security on mortgages for those on the way up.
