For a long time people thought these shared brand names were useful - but as time goes on, it seems they're not.

It's the same reason you can't log into Virgin Media Wifi on a Virgin Train - they'll tell you "nothing to do with us". If you're not willing to take responsibility for the cockups, or share customer loyalty across brands, should you be allowed to trade on the good name? Or at least, you can't really complain when the consumer confuses you for being the same.
Yeah because you wouldn't want to think they pay their staff as much as £5.50 an hour!

    https://www.corpwatch.org/article/sw...om%20customers.

Carnival Cruise staff on UK ships are paid $1.20 (75p) an hour or $400 a month in basic wages, according to new documents seen by the Guardian newspaper. These workers lose their tips, which work out to roughly 15 percent of wages, unless they get at least a 92 percent favorable rating from customers.
P&O ferries should be differentiating themselves from Carnival at least they pay nearly half minimum wage!

    Can I recommend "Payment Offshore?"

I wonder what they pay their staff and where they are from?
THis is literally part of their advert. They go to pains to say exactly who their parent company is, etc, etc. The advert reads like someone got pulled to read an emergency script who has no background in media! An "oh tulip" reaction

One of the maritime agencies recruiting workers for P&O Ferries is advertising for crew members, saying no previous experience at sea required.
Union officials warn that P&O Ferries could be jeopardising safety after dismissing 800 crew members and replacing them with workers paid less than the minimum wage. One of the firm’s vessels has been detained at Larne in Northern Ireland for being “unfit to sail” because of concerns over training.
The first requirement for any seaman was a certificate of lifeboat training that takes three days. I do wonder if this is now part of the Tory cutting of red tape
