People who do it one evening for bonfire night are not annoying anyone except the vegan killjoys. That's the whole point, that it's kept to one or two nights a year.Originally posted by ladymuck View PostI used to be the annoying neighbour who would have lots of fireworks. I love rockets so would have lots of those. Plus blowing up various soft toys.

Ours too, or "Nextdoor" which is the same sort of thing. Every year the whinging about fireworks comes out, although truth is I have only heard a couple of short volleys so far. Must admit I rather like them, and our old dog is so deaf now that he doesn't notice at all - although it is true that he used to hate them.Originally posted by d000hg View PostSpeaking of neighbours, our village FB group is afire after people dared to set off fireworks last night, 9-10pm. Yep I have no problem with fireworks finishing at 10pm at the weekend (Fri/Sat), not on a school night and think about the pets.Originally posted by d000hg View PostIndeed.
There are quite strict laws (whether followed is another matter). There are only 4 days a year you can legally set off fireworks after 11pm and that is before any local council restrictions: https://www.gov.uk/fireworks-the-law
Round here at least, we tend to get them every night for 2-3 weeks this time of year in greater or lesser numbers. Claims a lot of it is kids being daft. Does get a bit wearing but I'm not a fan of the moment anything is inconvenient, it has to be banned.

Now if they had put up 6 foot they would probably be alright.

Midnight is the normal finish time.

Makes us glad we don't have neighbours, because the most beautiful house in the most idyllic street is only ever one person away from being awful. We were chatting the other day about a house owned by elderly friends in a picture-postcard little village, that we often joke we'd like to buy when they find it too big, and whether we would ever choose to have next-door neighbours again if we can help it.
