Poverty is normally their parents skipping meals and their kids getting some food but not enough.

That sort of extreme poverty is thankfully pretty rare in the UK. Unlike neglect which is startlingly common. I am not sure which is worse, possibly the latter?

Very true. I'm not sure if that comes through the schools budget or local authorities or what, but they are important.
It IS a sad truth that for many, parents send their kids to school as much to get a decent meal as anything else. We are in a particularly deprived area, and it's common to hear of kids who basically don't get fed outside school although typically this is neglect rather than poverty.

Are you conveniently forgetting the question about whether schools should have shut? I'm assuming this is because you supported the closures but want to blame the former minister for it purely because he's a tory, and wanted to avoid your hypocrisy being highlighted too badly.
