I think you'll find it lay with a particular virus that's been doing the rounds. Are you saying schools shouldn't have shut, are you one of those left-wing anti-lockdown types?Originally posted by SueEllen View Post

And also no, initially it was about giving school meals during term time when schools were shut but now the rhetoric is kids should get free school meals during holidays.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Some of the kids would have got free meals during the holidays. There are things called holiday clubs and play schemes. I attended one when primary school age.Originally posted by d000hg View Post

Are you conveniently forgetting the question about whether schools should have shut? I'm assuming this is because you supported the closures but want to blame the former minister for it purely because he's a tory, and wanted to avoid your hypocrisy being highlighted too badly.Originally posted by SueEllen View Post

Whereas I will say that schools should have shut, and that's about the only thing he seems to have got even half-right. Based on admittedly not much evidence, good riddance.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

Very true. I'm not sure if that comes through the schools budget or local authorities or what, but they are important.Originally posted by SueEllen View Post

It IS a sad truth that for many, parents send their kids to school as much to get a decent meal as anything else. We are in a particularly deprived area, and it's common to hear of kids who basically don't get fed outside school although typically this is neglect rather than poverty.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

The schools and universities should of shut but how it was implemented was done extremely badly.Originally posted by d000hg View Post

Poverty is normally their parents skipping meals and their kids getting some food but not enough.Originally posted by d000hg View PostVery true. I'm not sure if that comes through the schools budget or local authorities or what, but they are important.
