Shame that you're a north pole and so is everyone you meet.

When messing around with rare earth magnets you need to watch your fingers.

If a finger is trapped between two large magnets it can be crushed!

    Ditto for people with pacemakers.

I have various ones, use them all the time but they are very well behaved because they have a rubber cover on the magnet.
    I will get some, thanks.

If you have an old hard drive, you could have taken that apart and gotten some rare earth magnets for free.

    started a topic neodymium magnets

    neodymium magnets

I bought some neodymium bar magnets thinking they would be useful. My first idea was to attach them to a tin box to temporally hold some set screws. Although the screws were not magnetic, the mere act of dropping them in the tin magnetised them. Dropping the first screw instantly magnetised and the opposite magnetic forces shot it in the air never to be seen again.

I placed them 1/2 a metre away from the laptop thinking it would be a safe distance only for the laptop to instantly blue-screen and shut down.

I then placed them separately on a table thinking they would be safe however, a slight vibration on the floor sent them flying towards each other crashing and then flying off in an unknow direction.
