I've heard rumours that when women go through menopause they get really hot.

According to Caitlin Moran, the symptoms of menopause are essentially withdrawal symptoms from oesrtrogen - which gives the "users" the super-human ability to tolerate small children. And husbands... A friend of mine recounts how his mother had a full rage rant at his father when she was in her fifties... which ended with her saying "I'm no use to anyone at the moment". He lowered his newspaper, looked her in the eye and said "It'll pass. I'll wait. You are worth it". They died 30 years later, within weeks of each other.

The visual culture seems more rigid in choice but you get the massive advantage of doing independent research, this for me is the best thing, devoting a year to what you want to study.

I had to wait until my Masters for that. Thing is with these kind of courses is that they make travelling and visiting much more satisfying as you can start to see more of the 'why' and not just the guide book 'what'.

Small example from my experience. I did my dissertation on the mosaics in Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, but the architecture and decor are just as important in displaying messages. The nave has Ionic columns topped with Corinthian pilasters; so what you might say, but when you know that the Ionic was thought to be matronly and the Corinthian virginal, well in a Church dedicated to Mary it can only be displaying Mother and Virgin writ large and into the fabric of the building to boot.
