EDIT: Latest Activity view works but the post count is missing from that and there's an interesting post number coming up...

No idea what happened, but I posted in the blind last night, and the post is in there now

I have https://forums.contractoruk.com bookmarked but clicking that results in 'the server took too long to respond'. If I navigate via the CUK website then the forums pop up fine but the URL is the same. What gives?

I suspect it's a Chrome problem as I had the same problem with the BBC site yesterday. In bookmark manager I found that the CUK and BBC bookmarks were http because I had saved them a long time ago. Normally a browser would automatically switch to the latest url? Edge etc do.

I expect most of us have old bookmarks/favourites we saved a long time ago.

Ah, that's interesting! The site should automatically redirect from http to https, so maybe there's a problem with how that's configured. Or maybe Chrome is trying to do something a bit too clever for its own good - often a problem with Google products these days!

Few times in last 2 days not been able to access site, message says "forums.contractoruk.com doesn't support a secure connection with HTTPS"

I've noticed that (or something similar) occasionally, though not for a while. From what I could tell, the new owner has been doing something to do with the certificates that allow for secure connections, probably setting up a system to ensure they're renewed properly before they expire. But that's just conjecture on my part! If that's what it is, then I assume it'll stop once such a system is stable

The Welcome / FAQs forum is saying there'RE unread posts when there AREn't. Even after I opened the forum and clicked on 'mark all posts read'.
