It appears that the site certificate for contractoruk.com has expired.
Now throwing up the usual warnings in my browser that you may be trying to steal my credit card details.
Long may it profit you..
Time for another few bob in the meter.

Spoiler alert: work has commenced on getting rid of this terrible version of vBulletin and moving to something else which doesn’t fall over all the time. Watch this space…

I have https://forums.contractoruk.com bookmarked but clicking that results in 'the server took too long to respond'. If I navigate via the CUK website then the forums pop up fine but the URL is the same. What gives?

Ah, that's interesting! The site should automatically redirect from http to https, so maybe there's a problem with how that's configured. Or maybe Chrome is trying to do something a bit too clever for its own good - often a problem with Google products these days!Originally posted by xoggoth View PostI suspect it's a Chrome problem as I had the same problem with the BBC site yesterday. In bookmark manager I found that the CUK and BBC bookmarks were http because I had saved them a long time ago. Normally a browser would automatically switch to the latest url? Edge etc do.
I expect most of us have old bookmarks/favourites we saved a long time ago.

I've noticed that (or something similar) occasionally, though not for a while. From what I could tell, the new owner has been doing something to do with the certificates that allow for secure connections, probably setting up a system to ensure they're renewed properly before they expire. But that's just conjecture on my part! If that's what it is, then I assume it'll stop once such a system is stableOriginally posted by xoggoth View PostFew times in last 2 days not been able to access site, message says "forums.contractoruk.com doesn't support a secure connection with HTTPS"
