Quid pro quo.
We protect your important people, on 'our soil' and you do the same for us.
(e.g. Did you see how many police & vehicles escorted William through the streets?)
People saying 'damn shame there's no semi-autos', prior incidents etc. unfortunately add to the evidence (in the eyes of government), that the security is needed.
(Also, point of order - semi-auto rifles are not banned - check your local shooting club for evidence)
The police are there to protect residents and visitors to the country. Being rich doesn't mean you should have to pay for your own protection. This isn't the USA.
No, but being POTUS means you have your own Secret Service protection, which he'll have with him anyway. They will tell everyone to fook off, including the local plods...
Admittedly there is a few "ifs" in there...Surely if he wants to visit one of his golf course, he should stump up...

Do you think the Graun cares about facts? The Jock police will need to close a couple of roads, while the Secret Service will provide the actual security. To be fair, the cleaning up of anti Trump graffiti might cost a few quid, but £5m for a roadblock and some Karchers seems a bit steep. Still, if they can get away with it...
Your average round of golf (if you walk the course) takes 3 hours.
So, £5million for 3 hours is the equivalent of £280million a week, net. That's just so that Donny can play golf - no trade deals, no tariff removals, not even a chlorinated chicken.
Am I the only one that thinks there's nothing good to come out of it?
