Diplomacy normally means being nice to unpleasant people. The hope is that they will see the light and become civilised.

Cosying up to Russia & China has shown a gradual improvement in human rights abuse, they want to be at the top table and now realise that you have to stop killing people out of hand if you want to sit down.

Saudi Woman in Miniskirt Video Arrested After Public Outcry - Bloomberg

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AP) -- A Saudi woman has been arrested for defying the kingdom's strict dress code by walking around in a miniskirt and crop top in a video that sparked public outrage.

The woman, whose name was not given, was detained by police in the capital, Riyadh, for wearing "immodest clothes" that contradicted the country's conservative Islamic dress code, state media reported Tuesday. Police referred her case to the public prosecutor, according to the official Twitter account of state-run TV channel al-Ekhbariya.

Similar intolerance occurring in Turkey. There's a vid on my facebook of a young Turkish man slapping a strange woman across the face as he was getting off the bus because she was wearing a skirt.
