    I just find it hilarious and worrying that the government that does not intend to tell people what they are planning to do with them wants those very people to tell it what they are planning to do... seems to me like the only idea the Home Office is capable of coming up with is making lists of foreigners... first it wanted companies to make lists of foreign workers, now it wants foreigners to tell it what they intend to do.

    The Home Office website asks EU citizens not to apply for PR now:

    Under EU law, you don’t need a document to confirm your permanent residence status in the UK.

    If you’re planning to apply for a document to confirm your status, you can sign up for email alerts instead.
    Possibly something to do with the backlog of around 100,000 applications that they can't process yet - to process the three million EU citizens (assuming they apply for PR) will take around 47 years at current rates of processing applications
