Listen to the Final Cut a few times and all those adverts become light entertainment.

Well I still say those cancer ads are really horrible and depressing.
As others have said, why not focus on someyhing posititve thaf has cone out of research to encourage people to contribute rather than those utterly bleak scenes of a father visting his child for the last time.

They disembarked in 45
And no one spoke and no one smiled
for there were to many spaces in the line.
They all agreed with hand on heart
to sheath the sacrificial knives.

I was going to be blown up by the IRA though.

One minute you're enjoying a bit of escapism watching Ken Masters and Jan Howard having a good romp on the deck of some gin palace in the Solent, the next you're suddenly presented with a rather unpleasant reminder that you could die soon. Horribly.
It puts me on a real downer.
I think the worst one at the moment is the BHF one where the bridesmaid dies at her sister's wedding and her voiceover intones the words "sorry to ruin your big day sis".
I watch freeview to escape all the depressing bilge on BBC; Eastenders etc. but it seems the tentacles of the miserabilists reach everywhere these days.
