Years ago, I worked remotely via a 14K modem. I remember a few file transfers failing because the modem accepted some of the data as commands. We had to manually code them to Base64. (Or that long ago, probably Base2
)

I worked for a major retailer whose EDI system read the word "TUNA" (as in tins of tuna) in an EDI message and took the "UNA" as the start of the next EDI message.
This was back in the 90s though. I'm sure it couldn't happen now....

What an excellent idea. Sure there must be some major systems crap enough to messed up by this sort of thing.
Hardly major but I found my shopping cart had problems on rare occasions, I'd forgotten to allow for quotes in names like O'Brian when inserting in MySQL.
