I would recommend Sardinia or Sicily. Well within 4 hours. My personal preference is Sicily.

I thought it was pretty much bang on 4 hours when we went from Manchester.

Would recommend, go to the North side though. And fly via Spain to the "other" airport.

You'll get that tenerife but may be more than four hrs

Bridgwater Services Travelodge can be warm that time of year, if you get one of the rooms with the heating stuck on full.

Hmmmmm....the islands I did enjoy, Paros, Anti Paros...I'm sure Athens rocks these days if you know where to go, they have a wide choice of everything there.

I have only been once, ages ago, but thought it was top notch.
