Are there laws / rules that would prevent a public website to scrape 3rd party websites and reformat the data for displaying as results but providing hot links to the original?
Copyright law is the obvious biggie, but speak to a lawyer specialising in (internet) copyright infringement. If you are intending to do what one thinks you are intending to do, you are going to need a lawyer who specialises in copyright infringement. And a bloody good one at that.
IMO, whilst it is no doubt good for a bit of amusement/sport, it was a very long time ago, and people should be judged on how they are today, not stuff they did over a decade ago.
