I think we're so obsessed with equality these days, that we confuse "everyone's equal" with "everyone's the same". Saying "X is better than Y at Z" is mis-construed as "X is better than Y", making a joke about someone who is black is misconstrued as making a joke about someone being black, etc.

I agree, on average women are better at this than men, it's biological much like men can run faster and are stronger than women, (again on average).Originally posted by d000hg View PostWhy is suggesting that the gender which has evolved to rear young would be better at that role, is on a par with saying that gender shouldn't do arbitrary activities?
Poor comparison.

read the story he is paying £40K in child maintenance and £30k in spousal maintenance. His Argument is she needs to get a job before he retires because he won't be able to keep her after that.Originally posted by Unix View PostIf the divorcees have no kids then yes, the husband should not have to pay anything to the wife. When kids are involved then the appropriate child maintenance payments should be made.
Note the 10 year old is with the mother, the older kid is at boarding school. Its not like she can't plan to retrain.
Its interesting that many of the posters piled in and declared it unreasonable that she got a job having been kept in relative luxury for years.

I reckon my only chance for financial independence is to marry a woman who's already screwed her ex-husband out of a fortune, and then murder/cherish her depending on how things go.
So I'm against it.

Indeed. Assuming women are only good to look after children and should not be working is incredibly sexist.Originally posted by MicrosoftBob View PostIt's more sexist to assume the woman should look after the children, that's on par with telling women not to drive
