Count the number of threads you have started complaining how hard it is to find a gig with mine

On another note, who knew there were so many PM Certifications now, what happened to the good old days when everyone and their granny was Prince2!

I agree with the conclusion (even though I have ITIL Expert and COBIT Certs).

I won't be going for the next version of ITIL qualifications (appearing in the next couple of years and having an expiration date ala Prince 2).
I don't wanna be a PM I know that for sure, maybe later in my career but not yet, most of that article makes sense but from a contracting view Service Transition is still a solid route for me to change things up a little.

The expiration date is a right PITA, I'm still in two minds as to whether I should bother to recertify for PII

Will give that a go, don't want to go down the permie route, but will do if I have to as I think I need a change!

If I was going permie, then I'd shut the company down and take the money out. I'd then personally pay for IPSE membership for another year just in case there was an investigation in that year that I needed to fight (although technically it could happen at any stage in the next 6 years).

That way, when you're sat in your 360 degree review, you can pass the time by working out how much you saved by only paying 10% tax on that money.

If those sort of posts didn't work then people wouldn't post them...

You only have to look at photos within linked in to know that many people don't know how to be professional...

starting a new one up in 24 hours for less than £100 is possible.

and as mentioned above once HMRC say you can close it you can be fairly confident IR35 is a memory.
What is the process by which HMRC 'say you can close it'?

It is some years since I closed my company, about 2005? Has anything changed?

I plugged my specialism on LinkedIn regularly and made sure that my contacts had me at the top of their feeds, so when my colleague had a need I was already in her line of sight.

So, be clear, focused and picky about what type of role you want and go out there and get it.

It takes a bit of effort to get yourself out of that 'easy to get/regular contract' rut.
