Look into providers that supply telephone and broadband as a package, like Bulldog (not that I am recommending them).. They originally supplied me with a newly installed line for £1, and some of the others might waive the BT reconnection fee..
-
my thinking was it would be easier to have a dedicated line for business use only.
Of course I will be keeping my personal line.
Broadband isn't itemised like phone calls, so whether I use it for some personal usage is a moot point.
Even though, when in contract, I am unlikely to work from home, having an internet connection and a PC are pretty central to my business so i don't think I would have to justify it. At least my accountants are happy to let this through without question.
I have an additional physical line already installed by a previous employer. BT a re charging around £100 plus VAT to activate it and was wondering what other packages are popular out there I could look into.

It would depend on your work set up.Originally posted by d000hg View PostBut you can charge the company for the use of your home phone/internet. I would have thought it doesn't smell right to have a company ADSL connection at home because it's very hard to convince anyone you aren't using it as your home internet as well.
If you spend a signifcant time working at home then having a phone line and internet connection in the businesses name wouldn't be considered odd. However all the people I know who have taken this route actually have 2 phone lines - one business and one personal.

I use BT,
BT Business Braodband,
Not bad although the service getting it set up was pants, as I would expect from any large corporation to be honest.

Orange do a wireless phone/broadband package for around £25-£30 per month. For this you get unlimited free evening and weekend calls and also a second free line through the broadband modem. This worked out the same as BT line rental + orange dial-up we were using.

Bearing in mind that they all have to go back to BT when it goes tits up I would suggest BT are quite good value for money
For broadband Nildram http://www.nildram.net used to be stunningly good but they were bought out by Pipex a while back and I don't know what the service is like now.
For Phone you have either BT or Virgin, I would avoid anythign associated with NTL if I were you.

ok, forget about the TV stuff. Any recommendations? I don't need 99% availability or anything....

How would you justify the business paying for TV channels to the IR in the case of an investigation?

just speculating as a bundle may sometimes be cheaper than individually.....Why would a business package throw in TV channels???

I use BT for the SLA, the theory being that if it all goes tits up they will do something about it quickly. Had no problems the past 2 years.
