In hindsight now, do you still think the governance changes (CC kicked out) were the best thing since sliced bread as you thought at the time ?

I'm happy the old non-functional (and slightly delusional) CC was disbanded. It was worth remembering that the CC since about 2003 could not have done anything to block those changes anyway; if it could it would still be in place. I, like most, am not convinced that its replacement has achieved anything.

However, IPSE now has a different market and a different remit. We should ignore the old version and just use the new one's member services as necessary.

The commercial offering is as good as it has ever been and easily beats the market.

Lobbying is by a strong, well respected and well resarched team, it's HMG that is killing progress, not IPSE by utterly refusing to accept that if you don't have premises and employees you can still be in business.

The original ethos though is long gone. Current management has totally lost touch with its members. It's just another commercial operation these days.

The last is the real tragedy. The rest is just a cost/risk analysis

I got ill suddently and spent 3 weeks in hospital.

Without quibble IPSE paid me £2000 which was good to know.

Made a full recovery

Can't seem to find any decent deals on Perkbox so given up on that - maybe i am missing something?

Perkbox is definitely a bit marmite. I know some members get a lot of value from it, my experience is a bit more 'meh' and I'll occasionally look but I have only used it once or twice.

I thought there were some gotcha's with the insurance, shared risk pool with a shared covered limit etc.

That's the discounted PI cover, not the PEI. And QDOS has some limitations in their PI if you look closely.

Not sure about the lobbying doesn't seem much success anywhere.

Lobbying is badly impacted by HMG/HMT/HMRC telling lies to Parliament. There have been wins, some significant, but not necessarily in our typical area of interest.

Management now is irrelevant. The CEO has more power than the BoD it seems. Recent calls for info seem not to really understand reality, being more PR than anything.
