I bet they would kick up a stink if the contractors decided that they were having a month long furlough.

I don't mind taking time off - asking me to take time off with less than equal prior notice would however result in me telling them to foff.

Interestingly I've got the opposite problem and I'm trying to ensure I get the 27-30th off as I'm already booked to be away then...

Just been told of a surprise furlough - unfortunately it's the end of the contract so it's also an early finish. Nice big surprise holiday it is!

    Warm up the bench, chaps

Lucky that's all the contractors are getting. Your warchest should be able to cope OK.

That's a bit steep. Give them a months notice on monday and find another gig. See how they like them apples.

4 Times I have been at Barclays at various levels/roles, they have been good to me over the years and got me out of the soft sticky stuff when work was hardtop come by, but yeah they can be a tough outfit to work for as a contractor. Seen some great guys marched off site by security for doing nothing except being sat working at their desk when it was decided to "cull" some of the team. Last in first out rules apply and your gone. Some how the bosses there think this is an okay was to operate with contractors.

Thanks for that, unfortunately the mention of Barclays tends to make me lose a little self control

Idiot. So much is wrong with that starting with the very untypical for a contractor attitude.

(and I've had two stints ot CS)
