Yes, you can add tags so the LI AI and the software enabled on the recruiter side of LI can see you properly.

As far as I know the Li algo does not read your CV.

The better way to optimise your tags is to run seperate post and job board searches, record the tags they were searching for and then enable those tags onto your own profile.

I got an interview off the back of it but it seems to be packing up for Christmas now.

Problem is with the amount of people available it will take a while to work through plus there is next to no job/contract liquidity as people are keeping hold of what they have.

You can add only 5 skills to the 'About' section so have to choose them wisely. But you can add 100 in total that you can use against each gig you do.

I think they may mean you can add in tech/industry buzzwords about what you do/offer in the 'About' section.

I realised I was missing some descriptions for my last 3/4 gigs, so I have tarted my profile up.

Also was offered a Premium Business promotion for £15pm for two months. I will cancel before it goes back up.

    - more attritional for junior roles (300pd bod more likely to move than senior person on 1000 as they chase the higher rate)

I guess the flip side of the coin is that a junior person is more replaceable, in my experience (FS) generally based on attitude. A hardworking BA is preferred to a clever but lazy one.

Is LinkedIn working better for you in the current market?

For me Premium tags and updating once in a while doesn't change much and don't get me started on the open to work thing even if it's not visible

Nothing wrong with having someone look at your CV but if it has been working for you over a number of years it is probably the market and not something you are or are not doing.

Know someone who has a first class degree in maths and as a graduate can not get a job.

In the old days, maths degree would mean every company would want you.

You definitely need to tailor your CV in this market.

Skills should be an almost perfect match. With superflous skills removed.

And if you are going for mid level paying permie roles (45K to 65K), consider downplaying how much experience you have. Consider only putting the last 3 roles, or your last role plus only the most relevant previous roles.

I suspect, unless your CV looks like a 2 year old's crayon drawing, that it is absolutely fine and it's just the market. However, getting someone to read it with fresh eyes is good because, at the very least, niggles like typos that you can't see after hours of staring will get picked up.

Ditto with me - I can also advise as I have interviewed people coming into my organisation and other places.
Are you a Java software engineer type person? I went perm in 2021, but I was contracting before that for a while in two stints since 2003.
