I think every experienced contractor is aware of this practice. (always denied by agents of course) We all have our own "agencies" marked in our mind as bad. I am blacked balled by a branch of an agency in Leicester after I had a spat with one of its agents after he had been backed up against a wall by me and admitted they did it to "Harvest CV`s or in his "words" See Whats out there ! Thats after he had kept me waiting for 4 weeks on the bench in anticipation of a role coming up in my area as they had NO CONTRACTORS at all in my area and were desperate for them. I later found out he had given the same script to 3 other contractors in "my area" and when I named them he was dumstruck.
The Common theme running through this practice is that Agents/Agencies think "contractors" are stupid, they dont think that long term experienced Contractors have contacts amongst other contractors and get to know what work is about or up and coming. I find it particularly entertaining when one it "outed" in an act of stupidity as in the "fake" ad.

As I understand jobs get syndicated by aggregation sites which take feeds from our brand sites and other job boards, this one could be making us blush for quite a while.

In the UK we have over 600 recruitment consultants, unfortunately I can't put my name to every job and validate every advert (I haven't got as much time on my hands as contractors do ). I can however put my name to the culture of service we are seeking to create, posting false jobs is not needed, not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

Yeah Mark, I fully realise that, and I know it's been going on for donkeys years. Not new practice at all.

Yeah, but I think they're both from the same place? Xpat jobs?
Which looks like it's just another job board/site?

Could just be the 'remnants' somehow of what was advertised originally by CF?

Although there might be others with more experience of this, it really is very sad, when you have to try and gauge whether a job is real or not

I'm actually starting to wonder whether to go the same direction as another poster on here, and just delete all CF, Progressive etc 'jobs' I come across now?

Recruitment agencies play a necessary part in the brokering of contractors to contract roles. The vast majority of end customers do not have the bandwidth or desire to trade with individuals. For now anyway the symbiotic circle continues, but disruptive innovations may change this medium to long term. The challenge for recruitment companies is how to move away from 'necessary evil' to 'valued resource', if we don't make that leap we risk going the same way as Bookshops and Black Cabs when Amazon and Uber effectively re-platformed the marketplace.

Over the last year we've recognised this, and have embarked on a massive programme to align ourselves to the needs of customers. The very first step was to benchmark where we are. We've done that my implementing a NPS (Net Promoter Score) system, conducted numerous surveys and also engaged a consultancy to host focus groups to see what clients and contractors think of us. As you can imagine it made pretty grim reading in parts, so we know we have a problem. Irrelevant mailshotting, not calling after an unsuccessful interview and being transactional were common themes. The good news for us is that as an industry the bar is pretty low, so there is a real opportunity for us to differentiate ourselves by improving some basics across our teams. We have the commitment from the very top to change this, and we will.

One of the posts above posed the question, "how do you know what is going on?". Well that is simple, we create the culture where we reward customer excellence. The NPS score can be driven down from Brand > Office > Team > Consultant > Activity, in essence we do more of what delights and less of what pisses people off.

Having flagged this thread, I said today at our UK&I Board that I wouldn't continue to post these messages unless all my fellow Directors were fully behind getting the very best Systems, Processes and Culture into our UK business. I have unanimous support for that, and as such felt supported to post.
    Conscience detected..... career crossroads looming......

+1 I have had exactly the same experiences with CF, along with Progressive they are an agency I won't waste my time with even if it was as you say my 'dream(fake) job'.

Well, since Andy has been a long term poster here (and I don't see any of the other big recruitment agencies bothering their barnies to come here), I think that reminding everyone of the rules regarding pasting PMs is due.

And I will also point out that I haven't seen any requests for this thread to be locked or removed.

I think I know what raphal is trying to say here, and if what I'm thinking is true, then it does raise the rather amusing point of just how many other jobs have there been/are there out there in the past and currently, that are also fake, but going un-noticed?
