The difference being we can elect some politicians with some balls (a distant concept right now, I'll admit) who can overturn these regs such that they no longer apply to UK companies. The EU can (and probably will) continue to regulate itself into the dust. They can't punish UK companies if the UK is no longer a member state. Why carry on paying for a mostly silent voice?

2. Well you can blame the UK government for that, nothing to do with the EU. The UK government went to the EU with a plan, it was accepted by the EU and then revoked by the very people who wanted it
3. The UK could have actually done a lot more to stop people whining and moaning but instead the politicians (and media) decided to whine and moan as well. Imagine if they had been strong and stable, the influence that Britain could have wielded may well have changed the way the EU operates, even to the UK's advantage, but no, continue to whine and moan...

You still have a number of MEPs, probably from different parties, representing your area that you can lobby, I do it quite often and have seen them change their minds when you point out what the new laws would mean to the common and ordinary folk. Try it although I suspect you would rather just moan and whine rather than actually go out and do something to make a change

1: You're so naive it's almost embarrassing.
2: We haven't left, and it looks likely that the "dark forces" will prevent us from doing so.
3: Been doing that for 25 years, and it almost got us somewhere close to doing something about it.
4: When will you get it into your skull that no such "elected representative" concept exists. We vote for "a party" and depending on how many votes "that party" receives, they get to nominate "a person or some people" to be our representatives. You might call that "democracy", I call that "bollocks". They have no incentive to do anything that "we, the people" ask of them, because if they do, they'll find themselves struck off the party list next time around. The perks of being an MEP are far too valuable to risk becoming an ex-MEP.

EU got very bad track record in making laws related to the Internet, basically I wish they just shut the fook up.

Sadly having Brexit will only makes things worse - UK will have no voice at all.
