    My real point was that in 1959 the Mini was streets ahead of the competition, and even when the HA Viva came out it was still rather more impressive.

    Which would you rather have driven.

    Not the HA, I'll be bound.

    It's a pity that the competence at BMC was so low that they never made a profit on the Mini.

    My 2nd car ever was a classic Mini Cooper. What a piece of rust bucket tulipe it was.
    And if you had an accident in one you'd be a mere smear on the road.
    For all that, fun to drive though.
