    What kind of restrictions are you think about? Who has lead you believe that it's one base of work per contract? Acceptable to whom? What expectations from the client? If you're not clear when posting your question then the point is quite likely to be missed.

    If you're not happy with the contract don't take it. If it's too expensive because of costs, then start negotiating.

    You need to find the cheapest (within reason) way of travelling between your multiple bases.

    So you may find that a daily return ticket is cheaper than a monthly once you know your schedule, or that using the train to West London is cheaper than driving in (and less stressful than being stationary on the motorway).

    Northern chap - no, I wasn't kidding. I am guessing things of a kidding nature might more normally go in the General thread. And the role has already been accepted so I will just make it work.     As for the other thread, I am not sure that was relevant as working away from home on a Mon to Thur basis has been done before and is fairly standard contracting practice.

    In terms of whether it is an acceptable working pattern that is between you and the client.

    In terms of what expenses may be claimable then that is a different matter entirely. It is dependant upon whether there is a permanent workplace or not.

    It is also possible (at least theoretically) to have multiple permanent workplaces.

    Your kidding right? There can be any number of bases, WFH, whatever. It is what you agree to. There is no set amount that it is right or wrong, you negotiate what you want and if you can't get what you want go for a compromise. The client can ask you to commute between Edinburgh and London if he wants. It is up to you if you find it excessive or not.

    If you can't come to a compromise you are happy with, don't take the role. Simple as that.
