Though if it is true that there's a seperate corporate TPS (website doesn't work at the moment), then that is pretty poor. My number is listed under my name, not the company name, so I don't see how they can be allowed to make that leap.
    They can't!

Note to the Brookson's man - you have to check the domestic TPS list as well to make sure that the number you are calling is not a domestic line.

You can't call a domestic number for a "business" purpose just because some third party has told you it's a business number.

I get google alerts pop up for the main CUK site, but never the forum... each to their own though.

I don't the odd cold call, it's business. It's when they call continuously or won't take no that I get annoyed

OK, come clean. You work for Brooksons. It's so transparent it is beyond funny.

When I look at your fees, they're way higher than many offerings. Considering that most of the guys who were with you didn't get paid for weeks on end when the MSC legislation came in, I'm amazed you still have any clients. (Edited to say- I just checked and they're fees don't seem to be on the website anymore, at least not obviously so.)

Myself, I wouldn't touch them with a long pole.

They get around it under the guise of "calling you about your account".

Strangely it is always someone from Belfast and the matters about which they are calling are always to ask what I am paying for my calls to see if they could offer me lower costs.

Are we seriously expected to believe that you set up a Google Alert to let you know when people were discussing accountants?

We are contacting Ltd companies to offer our accountancy services, in order to do this we look at companies house where the information is available publicly.

In order to satisfy the Information Commissioners Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 which are concerned with the way in which organisations send marketing material by electronic means (that is by 'phone, fax, and email) we screen all leads against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS). This is to ensure we do not make unsolicited calls for direct marketing purposes where the subscriber has notified that he or she does not wish to receive such calls.

I would like to investigate this further if possible - specifically around the number of attempts made to you, the guidelines Brookson have adopted with regards to calling have been put in place with the ICO's guidelines at the forefront of what we do. Would it be possible to discuss this with you? My contact number is 01925 235 727 or e mail andrew.sloan@brookson.co.uk.

I would recommend that you subscribe to the Corporate Telephone Preference Service which runs separately from the Telephone Preference Service and covers Ltd companies listed on companies house - details are held at http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/what/

Do these spam become any more obvious?

I have just had another call and they are an accountancy firm apparently.

After telling them that I was not interested and they should stop calling me as I am on the telephone preference service the smug adviser told me that the were allowed to call me as the call was about my company and not me!!!!!!!

I have now registered for the Corporate Telephone Preference service (http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/what) which although takes up 28 days to be activated will stop them calling me again (and again) and wasting my time.
