    Brookson Nuisance Calls????

I have been a regular visitor to this site and enjoyed all the comments and advise that is provided by all of you. I have never had to comment before but wanted to see if anyone else was getting calls from Brookson.

I have had 9 calls from the same number and when I call the number back it just says that I have been called by Brookson.

Has anyone else had the same problem with these calls????

I appreciate that my company details are available through companies house but I am registered with the telephone preference service. Surely this means that they should not be call me!!!

Any ideas would be very much appreciated

It turns out they could have been calling for my ex wife as I have got her old number!

To Andrew Sloan - I think the ex missus will be calling you this morning to explain as apparently she used to use your services. sorry for getting so annoyed.

Is that the Brookson debt collection agency?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

        Brookson Calling

I would like to respond to Mr A Noyd, I am the New Business Manager at Brookson.

We are contacting Ltd companies to offer our accountancy services, in order to do this we look at companies house where the information is available publicly.

In order to satisfy the Information Commissioners Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 which are concerned with the way in which organisations send marketing material by electronic means (that is by 'phone, fax, and email) we screen all leads against the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS). This is to ensure we do not make unsolicited calls for direct marketing purposes where the subscriber has notified that he or she does not wish to receive such calls.

I would like to investigate this further if possible - specifically around the number of attempts made to you, the guidelines Brookson have adopted with regards to calling have been put in place with the ICO's guidelines at the forefront of what we do. Would it be possible to discuss this with you? My contact number is 01925 235 727 or e mail andrew.sloan@brookson.co.uk.

I would recommend that you subscribe to the Corporate Telephone Preference Service which runs separately from the Telephone Preference Service and covers Ltd companies listed on companies house - details are held at http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/what/

I have just had another call and they are an accountancy firm apparently.

After telling them that I was not interested and they should stop calling me as I am on the telephone preference service the smug adviser told me that the were allowed to call me as the call was about my company and not me!!!!!!!

I have now registered for the Corporate Telephone Preference service (http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/what) which although takes up 28 days to be activated will stop them calling me again (and again) and wasting my time.

                  Brookson

I got this thread through Google Alerts!

I got a call out of the blue by Brookson and didnt understand why, I used Freelance Euro and though I was getting a good deal. The fee's I was paying were widly higher than what the girl from Brookson said they would charge and I would get all the IR35 reviews I wanted.

I moved and will save near £500.00 per year, although it feels obtrusive in approach its worked for me - like the guy posted from register on CTPS but you may miss out!!

I was called by Brookson the other day too. But I was in, and spoke to the nice lady who said she'd make a note of me not being interested. I've no idea where they got my number from, and yes I am on the TPS.

Though if it is true that there's a seperate corporate TPS (website doesn't work at the moment), then that is pretty poor. My number is listed under my name, not the company name, so I don't see how they can be allowed to make that leap.

I've also had an unsolicited call from BT this week, so maybe they don't need to honour the TPS either.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
