I can imagine how scared you were though... it's hard being far away isn't it... even though Paris isn't even that far away! It's the whole just waiting to hear news, isn't it?

Definitely - felt really isolated and helpless last night
Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

Just try not to think about that now.... you know he is doing ok and his family are around him. When Daddy was ill, I just wanted to see him for myself. Didn't matter what anyone else said, I had to see for myself

        You will be ok, luvvie

Aye, it's reassuring now that he has people with him (although some of his colleagues stayed with him as long as they could last night). Hopefully we'll all rest easier tonight. It wasn't nice having to break the news to our parents.

Know what you mean about wanting to be there - just trying to work out the best way of getting over to see him.

Better go and make sure the kids are settled in bed, then I'll probably turn in myself

...got a phone call late last night to say that my brother had been taken seriously ill during a business meeting in Paris, and had been taken to hospital. As the night went on, and after many phone calls, we found out the initial diagnosis was a brain haemorrhage. Today they believe it was actually a stroke.

From what we've heard today he seems OK - he's compus mentus, but a little numb down his left hand side. His wife and kids are there with him now (not a great night for them to have to get out of London to travel to Paris) and we've got good lines of communication open.

He's going to be in hospital for a week, so I'm just wondering whether to go over there towards the end of this week and see him.

                      I hope things get better......
