They took my plaster of paris slab off at the hospital, and fitted me with a splint.
it looks like white plastic pegboard.
They cut it to shape with scissors and then warm it with hot water, then they mold it to your hand to keep the hand in the exact position the surgeons recommend.
You can remould it to another shape just by pouring hot water over it.

I was actually thinking of screwing a hairspray can top to the palm, that would slot over the gearstick and thus allow me to drive.
Still too painful for that stunt yet
