Lunch has been the second half of last night's sausage and bacon baguette, cold

Another vote from me for the Mythic Beasts. They have been very responsive to my numpty questions.

That reminds me: when I moved my primary email domain from Easily to Mythic Beasts, it was taking ages, so I asked them to have a look via the support email address on their website (using another email domain I already had with them as mine wasn't working). They gave their DNS caches a kick and it all started working immediately.

Looking at the emails, it took them about ten minutes from me asking to them fixing. So maybe give them a shout if it seems to be taking too long

The weather station says we're at 29.5C.
The liquid-in-glass thermometer that's in the shade is claiming 31C

Ah, I think we're sorted - I did ping Mythic's support and was very impressed with speed of reply - at the time of email they confirmed their dns was good but the big ones (e.g 1.1.1.1 etc) hadn't picked up the new mx records.. literally only a few minutes laters the public ones updated.. so all good now.

I'll give everything a few days to settle down and then look at moving the domain hosting away from Easily as well. Not being able to update mx records without a support call is just nasty...

29.3 deg inside... outdoor thermometer reckons about the same.. I'll leave the door open

That's the week done! Only three more to go!

As has become usual, I found myself needing "a few bits though not a lot" in the way of shopping. More importantly, the Corolla has been deprived of its usual parking spot for about three weeks, if not longer. But this afternoon, I'd just passed some SQL over to the team that build the tooling and had nothing to do for a while, and noticed that the car that's been in that spot for a week or more had gone out! So I decided to head out to Not-as-big Sainsbury's and take a chance on the space still being free when I got back

This worked, as I was able to get the bits I wanted and get back in less than an hour, and reclaimed the space

The car that had been there came back about five minutes later, so I was just in time! It's now parked in the adjacent, marginally less desirable, space

Tea has been a cold chicken leg with ready salted chipsticks, which I think it's reasonable to call "potato salad" as they were cold and made of potatoes

This was accompanied by part one of the latest 24 Hours in Police Custody, about a rapist from Peterborough who picked up girls in clubs and spiked them. Nasty piece of work, though his penchant for videoing himself committing crimes doesn't seem well thought out

Walk/paddle on the beach, Max had a good swim in the sea and then a lot more in the river. He’s now happily crashed out beside me.

Finished reading The Nazi Mind. It's an interesting book, with twelve chapters about twelve aspects of the psychology behind the history. However, it also follows the history chronologically, which makes the mapping of psychology to events feel a bit tenuous at times.

For example, conspiracy theories certainly arose in the aftermath of the defeat in WWI and had an influence on the formative years of what became the Nazi party, so that's where the chapter about them appears, at the start. But they also played a part in many later aspects of the story, so a chapter which is nominally focusing on a psychological trait introduced as relevant to, say, the war on Russia will have instances of conspiratorial thinking which have to be mentioned even though they aren't directly related to the trait that the chapter is supposed to be about. Still, it generally works well

                      Warm, innit?
