I've read most of it on his blog over the years, but the book expands on each topic and also has some additional content.Originally posted by BrowneIssue View Post"The Old New Thing: Practical Development Throughout the Evolution of Windows"
You can't read that on a Friday night. It would be Wrong.
It isn't actually wrong for me to read it on a Friday night as I've never been (nor wanted to be) a Win32 developer; I read his stuff for pleasure. It has nothing to do with work, it's just fascinating - he's an astonishingly talented individual.
Somebody once asked on his blog what his position was at Microsoft. He doesn't respond to such questions (
) but one of his colleagues replied "Raymond's the wizard; that's what he does."

No, they had it taken out ages ago on the grounds that nobody used it as a result of the rise of the mobile - it was when they discovered that it had been out of order for nearly a month and nobody had noticed that they decided it was occupying space that could be used for other purposes.
What did they replace the phone with?
Is it more useful than the phone was?
Could it help with contacting you're parents?Si posse, recte, si non, quocumque modo remComment

That's been something of a source of irritation to him (and given that he describes himself as having "the social skills of a thermonuclear device", he tends to let his irritation show).Comment
