Lunch: leftover pork cutlet in a wholemeal bap with apple sauce, and a bag of plain crisps

This morning wasn't too bad for meetings. The daily standup was cancelled because of people being off and most of the rest being in the throes of migrating a service and cutting over to the new deployment. The only meeting after that didn't happen turned out quite short, as it was just me saying my stuff isn't working but I'm digging for answers, and another bloke saying the same thing about his stuff

More digging this afternoon but with a break to go and have a needle stuck in my arm and my blood sucked out, which will probably be more fun

      The blood has been drawn!

I cycled over there. As access is via an obscure back way through the University of Leicester campus due to the flooding and they don't have any bike racks by the back door, I'd decided to park in one of the many spots around the base of the Attenborough Tower and walk the last bit. But having cycled across the park and onto campus, I discovered that they've taken the opportunity of the exam period to resurface the area at the base of the tower, and the bike racks have vanished! So in the end I just rode it down to the surgery and found a bit of the fence around their bin store that I could get the lock round

The woman who drew the blood also took my blood pressure. After the first extremely high reading, she indulged my protestations about the after effects of healthy exercise on the unhealthy and took it a few more times; by the fourth, it had come down to a level that's around the high end of normal/low end of high and went with that, which was good of her

Lucky day. Lost me hat the other day on a walk of nearly an hour. Went back to look for it today and found it in less than 10 minutes. Learning Mahjong this morning at village cafe, book reading this afternoon. Now free at last! Snore.

Done for the week! Let the long weekend commence!

I even made some useful progress on the dreaded work after the visit to the doc's

After a bit of mucking around with the Swift app, I finally finished reading Porno

It turned Simpsonesque out after tea, so at least the evening was quite scenic

I haven't decided yet whether to do any shopping tomorrow. If I do, it'll be at Not-as-big Sainsbury's. But I probably won't

              Goodnight all

                Morning denizens

Today's a kind of inverse of yesterday: a sunny start but expected to cloud over by teatime. And that's a prelude to the rainy weekend, as befits the Whitsun Bank Holiday

It'll be a little milder than yesterday, having already reached 11°C on its way to 19°. The barometers also seem happy enough, having crept up a little more to 1008/1016mB. But the rain's expected to start overnight

I still don't reckon I'll do any shopping today

                  Morning.

                  Friday.

                  Dry.

                  Sunny.

                  Blue sky.

Cool in here at 18.3 deg, 19 deg in the kitchen, 16.5 deg in the leanto.

1015 mBar, 29.973 in Hg, 761.3 Torr, 14.72 psi, (up a tad from 1014.8), 61% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 18th of January 2020, BR14 popped in, Brillo popped in, LM popped in, WTFH popped in, it was cold & frosty, the road down to town was icy in parts, and the hoi polloi were hoi polloi-ing as per usual.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the sunshine. Cooler today so the clout was uncast.

Some sort of fly flew into one of my eyes, which was unpleasant.

During the lawn mowing I was assisted by a jackdaw who seemed remarkably unconcerned by the mower or me during its hunt on the newly mown lawn for various items of prey.

Now outside the mug of mediocre coffee.

                  Tea: soup etc.

                    Morning all

Blue sky again. Currently 12 degrees with a high of 17 expected. Once again, set to cloud over as the day progresses with a chance of rain this afternoon. Barometer continues upwards to 1020 mBar.

                    Sunrise 04:59; Sunset 20:58 BST

Yesterday's timings went a bit pear shaped. The 3 - 4 pm meeting was actually 3 - 4.30 pm. During this call I received word from the garage that my car was ready. I left home as soon as I could after the meeting ended and got to the garage shortly after 5 pm. A brief chat about the work done, some comments about how neither of us like driving automatic cars, and then I joined the rush hour traffic for the short drive home. Managed to get a good parking space but was still 20 mins late meeting my friend.

We went to see The Fifth Step at Soho Place theatre (just opposite TCR station). Much funnier than you'd think from the synopsis. Should you ever find yourself in this theatre, be warned: the paloma cocktail is made with orange (it should be grapefruit) and is served warm with only a couple of token icecubes that don't stand a chance. I think they keep the drink mix under a heat lamp. Probably safer to get a G&T as the mixer is kept in the fridge.

Today I have meetings from 10 am to 3.30 pm with a brief half hour break that won't be long enough for me to get any lunch.

I've just remembered that the past two years, they felt my BP was a bit high when I was there and got me to take twice-daily readings at home for a week, but they didn't do that this year. So pestering them to let it settle down has saved me a bit of hassle

I always think it's quite unreasonable of them anyway, expecting you not to have raised blood pressure when you know they're about to jab a metal spike in your arm
