Darn it. Teeth in Paradise postponed until next week due to Red Nose Day. Surely providing entertainment for me is more important than helping kids?

Another day, another Turkish Cypriot chicken and potato tray bake for tea
This one centred on a marinade including pomegranate molasses, Greek yoghurt, and the zest and juice of an orange. I made that at lunchtime and left the chicken in it for the afternoon. It turned out very nice; the only criticism I would make is of myself, as I suspect my lackadaisical approach to measuring ingredients resulted in the flavour being not quite as strong as it might have been. I might be tempted to chuck a bit of chilli in there too, to give it a kick. It was good thoughComment

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was Don't Look Up (2021) in which astronomers find a comet on collision course with Earth, but struggle to get anybody to take the matter seriously because society at large is obsessed with trivia and those in power are obsessed with political minutiae. It's a satire on modern society and, in particular, American politics; I felt like I'd watched it too late because it seems like many of the things presented as ludicrous extremes in the political arena are just day-to-day business at the White House right now. It has some rather clunky bits of humour here and there that break the flow, probably thrown in as sops to studio executives who are convinced that everything must be pitched at moron level, but it's pretty good overall
And then a rewatch of The Social Network (2010) because the other day, somebody on BlueSky said that for years, they'd been avoiding films in which Jesse Eisenberg appeared and they'd just realised that it's because they've been projecting their deep antipathy for Mark Zuckerberg onto him - which, they added, showed what a good actor he is. I've felt similar distaste every time I've seen Mr. Eisenberg in a film, though I realised some years ago that it was because of that association and have tried to overcome it. But honestly, he does do such a good job of portraying the utter foulness of Zuckerberg in this film - and Zuckerberg is himself such a thoroughly despicable piece of work - that it's really hard to separate him from this performance and accept that maybe he's a perfectly fine person and should be allowed to portray people who aren't quite that vile, such as Lex Luthor
Which reminds me that I recently saw Elon Musk referred to on BlueSky as "Lex Loser"

Morning.
Saturday apparently.
Damp.
Grey.
Sunless.
NotSoChilly side of chilly at 14.9 deg in here, 13 deg in the kitchen, 14 deg in the leanto.
995 mBar, 29.38 in Hg, 746.3 Torr, 14.43 psi, (up a tad from last night), 62% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 3rd of January 2020 xogg enjoyed some film with Gervais in, NF was debating on the fate of the pate container, Brillo popped in, BR14 was having problems with the partner's family, patience not being one of his virtues.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind: I've upset my dear nephew over a post I made on FB about the neighbour in the other half of the semi which he mistakenly thought was about him. Fair enough, now I've only got 2 lawns to mow rather than 7. It's a win!
Apparently I needed permission from him to cut the apple tree down and equally oddly compensation for this heinous act is required.
My late mate Martin was dead right (see wot I did there?): don't sell to family. He warned me and I didn't listen.
Just realised that the mofo was posting whilst pissed again. He's always pissed being a lush. You ought to see the glass recycling when the idle kinte can be arsed to stir his sticks enough to discard the empties
Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the sunshine, different (lighter) jacket & one fewer layer. Actually got quite warm.
Lunch: brunch.
Entertainment: Moneybox waffling on about something. Whatever that "comedy" at 12:30 was.
This afternoon I'll be making room in the garage for the remaining stuff in next door's shed which apparently causes so much angst next door, odd since the mother****er's never been in there as far as I'm aware.
As one who can hold a grudge for decades, this is all game changing. BR14 was as right as my mate Martin.
Spent much of the afternoon removing "the tools" that were cluttering up his shed.
I'd forgotten how heavy the 6" Record Engineers vice was. Quite why my father & grandfather had such a taste for cold & wood chisels, with the odd bolster thrown in for good measure, is beyond me, but by heck there's a lot. And brace and bits. And a small Stanley hand drill and a large Stanley hand drill.
Now sitting down recovering from my exertions with a mediocre cup of instant coffee.
I wonder if I can get that work bench out without the shed falling down. I suspect not. But hey! he wanted the stuff out, so be careful what you wish for.. And, starting as one means to go on, one of the security lights has been disconnected. The remainder in the garage will face the same fate tomorrow or Monday, along with the CCTV cameras.
Tea: soup (non Heinz tomato unlike yesterday's) etc. Nice enough.
Entertainment: PM.
The emerald isles on BBC2 (not Wales for the usual ball chasing reasons).
Much browsing of goodreads reviews of Roger Zelazny's epics.
Book. Other book.
The Truth is out there: Whitesands UFO photo: still no id. Tempe Az: weird cloud. Kid talks to her dead uncle. The howl: a pack of bigfoot? Some wooden ship found on a Florida beach. Some rock with inscriptions & "weird energies". Santa Cruz mystery spot.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; 26 March 2025, 17:41.When the fun stops, STOP.Comment

Morning denizens
It's a cloudy day, and there seem to have been some light showers; getting ready for April, I assume. It's 14°C which is our high for the day, and the barometers are down some more at 988/996mB. More rain is due this afternoon and eveningComment
