Lunch has been chicken 65, because it's so nice I ordered an extra portion on Saturday, with a bag of plain crisps

Another day done. The stuff we're doing involves taking apps that run on one PaaS platform and shifting them to another, and we've just got the latest one into side-by-side mode where the team who own the app can test it. This afternoon, two reports came from them within a couple of minutes of each other. One of them needed some config changes on our side so while the other chaps were doing that, I started digging into the other, which turned out to be much more interesting

Long story short, it turned out that a library the app uses was trying to write some data to the filesystem, and nobody responsible for the app's maintenance had ever known this was going on. As we make the filesystem read-only on the new platform, it naturally fell over at this point. We've got what should be a quick fix which will sort things out from our side, and now they've got a big chunk of tech debt that isn't their fault (somebody long gone introduced it in 2020) and they they never expected, which they'll have to sort out at some point in the future

Just goes to show, you never really know what your app is doing until you know what all its dependencies are doing

        Still nice and sunny out

It's all go here, following my wife's car having its MOT last week, I went to order new front discs for her on Friday. I checked with Eurocarparts, and then decided to check their eBay account as well. It was cheaper to buy from them on eBay than from them direct. And then I noticed they were included in a 20% off promotion, so I ordered them. Then I ordered new rear discs for mine (they are a bit pitted) and new trailing arms (the bushes are a little worn and it's cheaper to buy the arms with the bushes in them, than to buy the bushes on their own). I put them through as 3 separate transactions, mainly because I ordered one, then remembered the next. My discs arrived on Saturday morning. The Wife's arrived this afternoon. No sign of the trailing arms yet, but just been notified that my new walking boots are arriving in the morning... all the way from Yorkshire.

In the Renaissance tonight, Lucrezia Borgia (last night too, as her chapter's rather long) who got a bad press; and Camilla Rucellai, a Florentine nun who saw visions and came up with some pretty accurate prophecies - and got a good press, literally, because her convent (which she founded using her dowry from a marriage which was later annulled) had its own printing press

                Morning denizens

Sunny start again, and I can hear the merry clatter of the bins being done. No frost on the cars as it's a marginally warmer start at 2°C, with an expected high of 12°. The barometers are down a bit more at 1014/1023mB

CBS, etc. 0C at the start of the perambulation, and little old lady with parky dog didn't appear until her usual time, so Max had a good run round the field.
I'm still basking in the glory of getting 7 points in the first round of OC last night (the two teams only got 6 between them, but I managed a 3-pointer with New Zealand).

                      Excellent stuff, asbestos.

In a fit of insanity I decided to do some gardening and to paint bits of the tin shed.

Removed lots of brambles, where the feck do they keep coming from? 'Tis a mystery.

Got quite hot so had a nice cold shower afterwards.

My late mate has a garage/workshop stuffed to the gunwales with dead men's collections of woodworking tools and radios.

My house is full of dead men's radios and such like.

At least I'm getting shot of the books a foot at a time. . Oxfam must love me.

Amazingly enough there are now gaps on the shelves where once there were books.

                      Just not enough of them.

And I don't go to Lidl any more.
