I finished reading Apollo 13. The closing chapter has a detailed explanation of how the dodgy oxygen tank came to be dodgy, going into more detail than other things I've read, so that was good. And before that, there were one or two bits towards the end of the journey that the film leaves out. It's a good book

Time for bed now, so I'm well rested for the morning session of Monkey Life

    Goodnight all

      Morning all

Scattered clouds, dry. Currently 18 degrees with a high of 23 expected. Rain forecast. Barometer down to 1019 mBar.

      Sunrise 08:09; Sunset 18:28

It turned out to be a lovely day yesterday. It was a bit chilly up Pico de Arieiro but at 1800+ m above sea level, that's to be expected. Hopefully today goes the same way once we get over the other side of the mountain again. We're up early again for a trip to a Sunday market.

Today is our last day here. Back home tomorrow.

Overcast and damp out, which is a bit annoying as the forecast said we might even get a bit of sun today.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

          Morning denizens

Rather gloomy grey morning out, and with a damp feel to it, though this seems to come from a heavy dew overnight rather than rain. It's 1°C but feels like -2°, getting up to a mere 3° later, while the barometers are up to 1008/1017mB

Travelling via Nova Scotia or maybe Sydney for some obscure reason, no doubt

Checking up on Oak Island via a flying visit.

              Morning.

              Sunday.

              Dry.

              Grey.

              Sunless.

Chilly in here at 11.9 deg, 10 deg in the kitchen, 8 deg in the leanto.

1016 mBar, 30 in Hg, 762 Torr, 14.736 psi, (down from 1020 last night), 60% RH (Lidl electric).

Feck me it got there at last.

Meanwhile on the 21st of December 2019 there was discussion of Ikea allen keys, Bristol Spline and Torx, whereas LM noticed the KFC was to be open on Xmas Day according to a big sign, while BR14 still had the vac in bits & I'd found a piece that had fallen out of mine & I never did find out whence it came, and NF observed there was to be rugby football played that afternoon at the place that inconveniently interrupts his direct route to the railway station.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom and chilly wind.

              Lunch: brunch.

Entertainment: nothing since Having a Clue is still on. Ho hum.

Book. Other book. Finished other other book.

Tea: beans on toast with added boiled eggs. Nice enough.

Mysteries of Stonehenge on 4: including the Battle of the Beanfield: that triumph of Tory bastard* policing**.

*Or more likely Bitch policy of The Great She Elephant.

**Well they'd got they're truncheons in beating the tulip out of the miners the previous year: pity to let that experience go to waste, like. .

Mediaeval Dead: Carl Wark in the peak district: no one knows what it is or when it was, though the army shot chunks out of it during WWII just to make sure, like. Other than that: no dead, mediaeval or otherwise, the soil conditions being such that nothing lasts very long.

                Lunch: turkey and barley soup

I was wondering how this soup turned out so very, very tasty. Then I remembered that I chucked a spoonful of MSG in when I was making it

Good day out. Now in a cocktail bar where they're playing Pink Floyd tracks. So far we've had a selection from Dark Side of the Moon, The Division Bell and The Wall. I wonder if they have Wish You Were Here.

I have withdrawal symptoms from not playing that but it's impossible on my phone, even with my glasses.
