      Bacon bap for lunch

Heavy rain continuing. I had been thinking of shifting some stuff to and from the storage unit and maybe taking a few bits to the tip, but I'm not going anywhere in this weather

I also need to pop down south and leave my key, but it looks like it's expected to be a bit drier tomorrow so I'll make my last ever visit to the house then

Tonight's only telly was another episode of the Gloucestershire police thing, in which there was a glimpse of the pub I initially stayed in in Cheltenham, and also the corner of the nearby street I later lived on, off the High Street. The pub is a restaurant now, I think, and the larger part of the building which formed the guest accommodation has been turned into a coworking space

            Morning denizens

It was a rather gloomy grey start, albeit without rain either overnight or presently, but a minute or two ago the sun made it high enough to pass the bank of thick low cloud and start shining through the much flimsier stuff higher up. So things should dry up a bit more quickly, and potentially warm up a bit too. It's still not that warm though, being 13°C with an expected high of 15°, while it's also rather breezy which is making it feel like 10°. The barometers are essentially steady at 991/998mB

              Morning.

              Tuesday.

              Dryish.

              Wanly sunny.

              Blue sky in parts.

Cool in here at 17.9 deg, 19.5 in the kitchen, 16.5 in the leanto, 14.5 in the saltinghouse.

              Was wanly sunny, now overcast.

1000 mBar, 29.53 in Hg, 750 Torr, 14.5 psi, (up from 999 last night), 80% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 15th of November 2019 NF had spag bol, BR14's contract fell through at the last moment, and the weather was cold and nasty.

              Washing out on the line.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the wan sunshine. Nicer than yesterday.

              Lunch: there was.

              Entertainment: read book.

Shirts in off the line & roughly iRoned.

              Freecell score: getting worse.

Cottons in off the line & roughly iRoned where needed.

              Tea: soup etc.

Towels in off the line: the roller towel not being quite dry.

              Read book.

              Entertainment: Digging for Britain.

              Read book.

                Afternoon all

Dry but cloudy with the occasional splash of sky poking through. Currently 16 degrees with a high of 17 expected. Barometer steady at 1005 mBar.

It's been a bit of a non-event so far today. I did have a sausage sandwich for lunch though.

Home again after the journey south to say goodbye to the old place and leave my key

It turned out not to be a time of solitary pondering, as my sister and brother-in-law had underestimated quite how much crap my parents were capable of squirrelling away in a garage, two sheds, a summerhouse, and a greenhouse. They were almost through with it though and optimistic about getting it finished in time, so I helped out by taking a load of assorted stuff to the tip

In among my load was a large flowerpot full of assorted crockery, all of it quite nice and including a teapot. I don't have it in me to chuck away a perfectly good teapot, and there were various nice mugs and plates too, so I ended up bringing that back with me

And with that done, the various rooms photographed empty (a state I don't think I'd ever seen them in before, as I vaguely recall the move happening on a school day), and assorted photos taken of the garden, it was time to leave my key and head home

I stopped off at Big-Sainsbury's-Down-There on the way back as they stock Old Hooky and none of the ones up here do, so I grabbed four bottles of that along with some other bits and bobs

Now I've just got to wait for the solicitor to call tomorrow…

I didn't have any lunch today as I was going to have it when I got back, but it was already teatime by then

So a nice big tea was called for: chicken jalfrezi with rice and naan

Well I know it's not the sanest thing to do in the current market but I've told the people where I was did 4 weeks work that I'm not going back.

It's a fixed price project where the (Indian) consultancy hasn't grasped the scale of the work they need to do so it's safer to keep as far away from it as possible.
