A sign has appeared down on the edge of the big lawn nearest my window, asking that parking space for a removal van be left free on Tuesday. So it looks like my neighbour, the Pepys expert, will be off then

Still sunny now and the earlier haze has cleared up, or perhaps coalesced, turning things quite Simpsonesque

Every time I think people on random forums are crazy I look at Nextdoor to realise some people near me are completely and utterly bonkers.

Currently the most vocal posters are the anti-ULEZ lot, 'the not missing but don't know cats nature" lot and today the anti-5G mast lot have reappeared.

Tonight was home made oven chips. Skin on. Set fan oven to 250°C. Slice the potatoes, into water, bring to boil. Boil for 5 minutes. Empty onto a tray and pat dry with kitchen paper. Then into a bowl with oil, paprika, garlic powder, pepper and salt. Into the oven for about 15 minutes.

        Fried fish and sliced courgette.

SueEllen Yeah. This is a bit of a haven of sanity.

NickFitz Over here we can order traffic cones from the police to keep the space clear for removals. Under threat of fines.

Bit of a treat at church this morning.
Paul Clark (one of the founders of CCM, along with Larry Norman, 2nd Chapter of Acts, Phil Keaggy , Keith Green etc.), sang a couple of songs during our morning service.
Paul was visiting a Swiss friend of his here, and kindly agreed to sing.
Talked to him afterwards. Nice guy. Apparently he's recently put out an album with Phil Keaggy.

Most of you won't know Phil Keaggy - he is an amazing guitarist. Check out Glass Harp from the 70s.

This is a private road because we're well posh, so I don't reckon the police would want to get involved

It's more of a drive around the big lawn really, but the signs at the entrances say "Private Road" so I'll take it

Tea has been a roast beef dinner

Earlier, the usual US border people and NZ roads people were doing their respective things. And later, the latest episode of Ambulance was followed by an old episode of 24 Hours in A&E

The gibbous moon rose over the block opposite earlier, closely followed by Jupiter. I reckon there'll be a transit in a couple of days, when we can check if the Moon's still the closer of the two

          Goodnight all

              Morning denizens

Sunny start out, and looking to be a warm one: already 16°C and rising to 27° this afternoon, with the barometers hovering around the same sort of level at 1013/1021mB

No, the only conversation I've had with her was when she told me she was moving the other day. She's been spending the academic year that's coming to a close on study leave, so I reckon she's either been away delving through archives, or sitting in her study, studying. If she does much socialising, it isn't done here, as I've never heard a peep from across the landing

I am informed by a usually reliable source (some Vedic Astrologer on Twitter who I've never heard of but who was retweeted into my timeline) that Jupiter is in retrograde from today for 118 days, so maybe there won't be a transit after all. TBH I'm not quite sure how planets in retrograde work in relation to the Moon. Thinking about it, maybe it just means the transit will be slightly delayed? The Moon still has to go all the way round, but Jupiter will be running away from it, as it were?

Hot over night. Cooler this morning.

New gig starts in 10 minutes. Needs must I suppose... though I do prefer to be semi-retired.

Watched "Operation Fortune" on Amazon Prime over the weekend. It's not one of Guy Ritchie's finest, but it past a bit of time and was jolly enough, if somewhat hackneyed.

                      Ooft... 5 minutes.
